Flag Facts
The United States Flag Code establishes the rules for The US Flag, its care and display.
The US Flag Code is federal law but unlike other laws there is no longer a penalty for breaking this law.
In 1989 the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Texas vs. Johnson that flag buring is protected speech covered under the first amendment.
